I have been drawing since I was five years old drawing all types of styles from cartoons, portraits, caricatures, tattoo design, murals, and of course—Graffiti art. Nowadays, I’m more about character design. I’ve been creating my own cartoon characters since I could remember. I’m 40 now, but I’m a kid at heart. I feel people have more creative thinking when looking at things from a kids point of view when it comes down to cartooning. My cartooning is influenced by many different artists with different styles. From Salvador Dali, comic artist Vaughn Bodé and Jim Davis (Garfield), graffiti artists Seen UA and Dondi CIA, MAD and Cracked magazines; my style is kind of out there. I’m also influenced by all of my surroundings. I could see any surrounding areas around me and envision an image, especially faces. I was a caricature artist for almost 20 years, so when you’ve been drawing people’s faces for a living for so long, anything can be a face, in my eyes.
I never liked the things the average person would like. I was never into superheroes comics/characters, space movies, etc. Besides Saturday morning cartoons, I was always into things more vintage and underground, rather than the mainstream. While other kids were into superheroes, I was into villains and unique creatures. Growing up, people looked at me like I was doing something wrong for not liking the popular things. I always had an old soul. Another big influence is my medical life. I’ve been in and out of hospitals since I was five, so my character art has an abundant amount of medical issues with my characters. It just reminds me that even though I have limitations in life, my art is limitless.
